A new website designed using Adobe XD and built in Wordpress, for a packaging company in Geelong.

The nitty gritty

  • Byars is a one-stop shop for Disposable & Biodegradable Packaging. Proudly servicing the Geelong region since 1985.

  • Our brief was to complete a website refresh, which had remained unchanged since its last update in 2013. Our goal was to modernize the user interface and enhance functionality to better align with current industry standards and user expectations. The refreshed design should prioritised the user experience, mobile responsiveness, and accessibility, ensuring a seamless and engaging digital experience for all customers. By using the brand guidelines our aim was to maintain their brand identity while incorporating contemporary design elements that reflect our commitment to innovation and user-centricity.

The Project Overview

What we started with

The recently purchased Byars, local packaging supplier brand, is an established brand yet needed a refresh.

This included a visual refresh, update to systems and processes elevating their brand to represent the new direction. The last update on this website was in 2013.

Defining the problem

After analysing the primary research (conducted prior to working with the agency) I was able to synthesise the data and come up with the following personas.

  • They want to sell an experience

  • They want a simple process and trusted partner.

  • They want to give back to their community and the environment.

Creative design concept ideas

  • Clear categories

    Clear categories visible on the home page will make purchasing a streamlined process. Our persona will also be able to see that Byars is a one-stop-shop for packaging.

  • Colours and textures

    Curved shapes are used throughout the designs that reference packaging (flat pack) shapes.

    Earthy colours represent the brand’s values and speak to the personas who want guilt-free packaging.

  • Personal touch

    A video showing raw content (behind the brand) will give customers a close insight into the brand, its values and a face to the name. This will speak to the persona who wants that special connection.
